What DJs played on Instagram, Aug 3 to 9, 2026

Published Aug 26, 2026

The week in numbers

169 track IDs from 26 DJs, Aug 3 to 9, 2026 (UTC). 41 DJs published 93 posts and stories that week; 0% of the IDs came from stories.

A catch-up week. Our scanner was coming back from an outage, so the week over week jump reads hotter than the scene: 169 IDs from 26 DJs, against 26 IDs the week before. 41 DJs posted, and none of the IDs came from stories, because story scanning was still off.

Nothing ran away with the week. Three records landed with 2 DJs each, and Movin' To The Sun by HUGEL, Imael Angel and Ultra Nate takes the top slot on plays. Below that, every record on the list sits with one DJ.

Breakouts

Two breakouts, both first spotted on the 5th. Solomun put up Raider on the Storm, his own record with Inez, and a second DJ picked it up inside the week. Runaway, the Reboot Rebeef mix of the Tuccillo cut, surfaced with @josephcapriati first.

Genre share

Dance leads this week with 44% of the IDs that carry a genre, down from 50%.

  • Dance44%6
  • House24%2
  • Electronic19%8
  • Pop5%1
  • Techno4%4
  • Alternative1%1
  • Classical1%1
  • Jazz1%1
  • Other2%

83% of this week's IDs carry a genre; shares are of those.

Dance held the top at 44 percent of the IDs that carry a genre, with house at 24 and electronic at 19. Techno showed up at 4 percent after a silent week. Genre reads cover 83 percent of the week's IDs.

How we count

An identification is one track matched to one post. We read what the DJ wrote in the caption, what people wrote underneath it, the audio Instagram attaches to the post, and the audio itself, and a track only counts once the evidence lines up. If a record turns up in three posts that is three identifications; the DJ number beside it counts people, not plays.

A DJ here is an account in the CrateWire catalog that we refresh on a schedule. Accounts a signed out visitor typed in once and nobody ever followed are left out of every number on this page. We only print a handle when that account has enough identified tracks to have a public tracklist of its own, so a track can have more DJs behind it than it has names next to it.

The week runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to the following Monday 00:00 UTC, and a post belongs to the week the DJ posted it, not the week we got around to reading it. A DJ added on a Friday whose back catalog we scan that night files under the weeks they actually posted in.

Stories count. They are a large share of what DJs put out and most of them are gone inside a day, so leaving them out would make every total here read low.

The numbers freeze when the report is written. Anything identified after that belongs to the week it was posted in and never gets added back into a published table, because a page whose numbers move is not a page anyone can quote.

Where a track or a genre is marked up or down, the earlier number was worked out for this report from the week of Jul 27 to Aug 2, 2026, which has no published report of its own.

Genres come from the iTunes catalog, one per track where there is a match, and plenty of records never get one. Every share on this page is a share of the identifications that do carry a genre, and the line above the bars says how big that slice is.
