The short answer
To find the songs in a SoundCloud mix, paste its link into the finder above. We look the mix up online for a tracklist somebody already published, and when there is none we listen to the audio in 30-second windows and name what we hear. Your first scan lists the first 3 songs we name. On a plan, the tracklist also shows the time each song we matched in the audio starts. It takes public mixes of 10 minutes or more; a single SoundCloud track already shows its own title on its page.
How to find a song in a SoundCloud mix
- On SoundCloud, tap Share on the mix and choose Copy link.
- Paste it in the field at the top of this page.
- Wait while we look the mix up online and, when we have to, listen to it.
- Read the songs we named. On a plan, a song matched in the audio also shows the time it starts.
Which SoundCloud links work
Works
A mix or track page
soundcloud.com/<artist>/<mix>
A share link from the app
on.soundcloud.com/…
Refused in the field
A playlist (a link with /sets/ in it)
That's a playlist. Paste one mix from it.
A Discover playlist
That's a SoundCloud Discover playlist, not a set. Open a single mix on SoundCloud and share that link.
A search page
That’s a SoundCloud search page, not a mix. Open a single mix and share its link.
Anything else
Paste a SoundCloud, YouTube or Mixcloud link. Check you copied the whole link.
A private link passes the field but cannot be fetched afterwards, so use a public one.
The set scanner listens to DJ mixes of 10 minutes or more.
Built for mixed and talked-over audio
DJ sets are the hard case for a song finder: tracks blend for a minute at a time, get pitched to match, and sit under a crowd or an MC. We listen in 30-second windows back to back, so no stretch of the part we scan goes unheard, and on a plan the tracklist shows where each song we name from the audio starts.
Where each way wins
Shazam is the right tool for one clean song playing near you. A SoundCloud mix is a different job: the songs run into each other for an hour or more.
| Dimension | CrateWire | Shazam on a phone |
|---|---|---|
| A clean, released song playing near you | No | Yes |
| Works from the link, no speaker needed | Yes | No |
| Songs blended into each other in a set | Yes | Partial |
| Time each named song starts, on a plan | Partial | No |
| Unreleased tracks and edits | No | No |
Frequently asked questions
- How do I find a song in a SoundCloud mix?
- Paste the mix's link into the finder at the top of this page. We look the mix up online and listen to the audio, then list the songs we name. To check one moment yourself, read the comments other listeners pinned to that point of the waveform.
- Can you Shazam a SoundCloud mix?
- Yes, by playing it out loud next to the Shazam app, one song at a time, which works on a clean, released track. In a mix the songs are blended into each other, so you would sit through the mix with your phone up and still miss the blends. The finder above takes the link instead.
- Which SoundCloud links work?
- Public mix and track links from soundcloud.com and the on.soundcloud.com share links the app copies, one at a time. A playlist, a Discover playlist or a search page is refused in the field. A private link passes that check but cannot be fetched afterwards. YouTube and Mixcloud links work here too.
- Can it name a single SoundCloud track?
- This finder names the songs inside a mix. The set scanner listens to DJ mixes of 10 minutes or more. A single track's own page already shows its title and artist.
- Is the SoundCloud song finder free?
- Your first scan is free when capacity allows and shows the first 3 tracks it names. Scans after that run on a plan, starting with a 7-day Digger trial; Digger covers 6 hours of sets a month.
- Why do some songs come back unnamed?
- Recognition can only name audio that already sits in a database. Unreleased tracks, bootlegs and a DJ's own edits do not. Your first scan lists only the songs we could name, so a mix full of unreleased music can come back with few names or none. On a plan, the tracklist also marks where the unnamed tracks sit, with their start times.
- Do I get the time each song starts?
- On a plan, yes, for songs we matched in the audio: each comes with the time it starts, so you can jump to it. A tracklist somebody already published comes through with whatever times its author typed in, which can be none. Your first scan shows the first 3 song names, without times.
